I gotta say, Jeff has some hard earned wisdom, which really will benefit Emrys even if it doesn’t make him feel any better right now. The important thing to remember is that everyone is another human being with hopes, dreams, problems, virtues and flaws. We really have to reset our perspective with each interaction we have with others (especially virtually, some people are truly thoughtless and horrible online) and think, “what’s it like in their shoes right now?”. Empathy and true compassion (not that fake kind that gets shoveled in popular media) are the keys to dealing with people and ourselves, but it’s not easy to do. Some may be that way naturally, or have trained themselves to be that way, but most of us just have to work at it to some degree or another.
Jeff is a great friend because he speaks his mind and is always honest, even if it can be embarrassing, but he’s never mean spirited. Those qualities are very valuable in a friend, and I think Emrys will learn to appreciate that a lot more after this chat. Hopefully some back story on Jeff is in the future, because I can see that being a very fun tale to read. 🙂
Jeff is someone who sometimes has spot on wisdom and other times you just shake your head in disbelief. But I think it may be time to visit a little of Jeff’s history soon. For a long while now I mostly had him as comic relief but recently he’s become much more three dimensional so yeah, Some history might be in order soon.
