#457 Lazy Morning Recap

Audio Player Here's to the Night -Eve 6 ...Here's to the nights you felt alive indeed.

Four years ago this week, Bohemian Nights was born.

The prevailing theme of the comic has always been that, despite lack of money, heartaches, and feeling lost about one’s future, you will never feel more alive than the years you spent in your twenties, surrounded by your friends, when your responsibilities were few, your vices many and you had nothing to do and all day to do it. One of the reasons I write this comic is to somehow recapture that incredible feeling of being young and alive. When days held such promise, when you felt you could conquer any obstacle, when a song could define your existence for that year, when your friends were your world, and your first relationship burned itself  into your soul. It’s late night walks through streets and parks, it’s laughing until you can’t breathe, it’s crying until you break in two, it’s talking about dreams, whispering secrets and singing your own songs. It is all those bittersweet memories and so much more. It is the true heart behind this comic, my compass and guiding star. Most times, although satisfied with the outcome, I still feel I come up short. Like a memory of a dream you only taste the moment you first wake up, but with the light of day, dissolves like cotton candy in your mouth.  But once in a while…just once in a while…I come real close to hitting the mark –to revisiting that feeling, both in story and in images. And those are good days because I have come as close as I can to a time I can never go back to. If you are young…in your teens or twenties…hold tightly to your heart. Remember those days with a love both fierce and bright. For time will carry you away to other lands and the seas you travel today will never pass your way again. Live for today. Reach for your dreams. Dance for your life. And keep that fire in your heart for as long as you can.
