So sorry about the lateness in the comic. I set it to appear on 8-2-24 not 9-2-24. D'oh!
Enjoy!

Devon, is it chemical or moral hungover?
And Eric, yeah, that is that famous American date format

Probably a little of both.

Considering how the last meeting with her parents went, this whole conversation is probably pretty painful for Devon!

Being passive aggressive to your daughter’s dating choices and all but calling her current partner “dull” is bad, but it’s MUCH better than full on denying her sexuality and believing she needs to be “fixed” not because of the character of her partner but merely because she’s the same sex. It’s like comparing a bee sting on the cheek to a cannonball to the face.

Man, I forgot that this is the day after Thanksgiving. Now I get why she’s so teary eyed. Not just for her breakup, but probably because she was REALLY close to making one of the stupidest decisions in going home with Clueless Casanova had Shannon not literally dragged her out of the bar. If I were Devon I’d give Shannon a fruit basket!

I think the hardest part in any relationship, personal or professional, is getting out of our own heads and considering the other person first before we respond to things. It’s a two way street, of course, but at least when we put in the effort we know that we tried. In Devon’s case, she really needs to take stock of her situation and either find a way to make peace with Anabel, however that turns out, or move on. Neither one is going to be easy, but the fact that she’s so miserable tends to support the idea that she needs to make peace, for both their sakes. Maybe write a letter and mail it? Those can be cathartic even if Anabel never reads it.
Hope everyone has a good week.

Devon needs a nice long weekend. At least she has real friends like Beth and Emmy’s.
