It's funny. Back in the day I actually liked my friends to just show up unannounced.ย Of course, back then we didn't have things like cell phones either.
Also...an interesting observation I only just thought of as I prepared to upload the comic...today's comic almost mirrors the comic a while back where JoJo dropped by Mark's place with some food. Coincidence -not intentional.
Finally, just finished writing a big chunk of comics. And for those of you wondering, Yes! It has to do with the in-depth history of Beth (and Rich) along with another very satisfying scene. Iโm really enjoying how it came out. The only downfall (for you reading these) is that youโll have to wait a little longer to read them since this starts around #650, give or take an episode or two. I know some of you have waited quite a bit to get this backstory. Iโm surprised it took me this long too. There are just so many plots and sub plots to build up to get to a certain point in any given storyline. For those of you wondering about the writing end of this comic, I usually start off with a page or two outline going over each of the characters and what will happen to them throughout the year. I then take that outline and (when the writing fires are hot) sit down and type out page after page of dialog. Usually around 30 or so comics at a time. Sometimes it can be months between these writing spurts. During these times I will regularly go over what I have written and edit them sometimes even at the point of drawing them.
Thank you all for coming back twice a week to read them.

HA! I knew Jeff would make a move eventually, though I didn’t know he’d be quite this fast. He’s a bit crass at times, but Jeff comes across as a really good guy, and while he doesn’t have the ladies following him around like Mateo does, they certainly seem to be amiable when they depart his company, so there’s something to be said about his approach and how he treats women.
An observation…where’s the rest of Jeff in the last panel? ๐
Also, thanks for sharing your writing process, I’m always curious how each author/artist approaches their work, because I’m still trying to figure out mine (when I ever actually do write, which is pretty much never the past few years), so all insight into the process is helpful.

“whereโs the rest of Jeff in the last panel?”
-Getting beamed up by Scotty?
-The bottom half is sticking out of the wall like a glory hole?
-JoJo, ravenous for jambalaya, started by eating Jeff?
…Or I just drew it that way…

That’s very kind of you, but your schedule is already full enough as it is and I don’t really have much of anything worth sharing. What I have posted online is on FanFiction.net (under the name Reklar, a very old internet handle of mine) and on a dusty old forum some regulars from the old Black Isle Studios forum started back in 2001 called DnD Storywriters. Most of my stories never get very far because I don’t properly plan them out and get distracted from them by life; I think I’d have to be a hermit to be any good at writing. ๐
Right now I’m content to keep imagining things and scribbling down notes from time to time until I figure out a way to present the stories I’d like to tell, but truth be told, I don’t know if I’m really a storyteller, or just an enthusiastic consumer of other people’s stories. ๐

There’s a lesson to learned here: if you drop in on folks unexpectedly, you better bring something they like. ๐
