840 The Past Forgotten

The funding for the first Bohemian Nights full book is now a go! It's been a long time coming and I'm looking forward to seeing it happen. It came shy of the stretch goal of a new story but that doesn't mean you won't see that story ever, just not in the first book. But I don't want to leave you empty handed so I've included a brand new illustration of the girls at the beach only available through the book. (As well as lots of extras added at the end of the book that most people may have never seen before. Over all, I think readers will enjoy it. At the moment it's being edited (cos....you know...me and misspellings...) Then once it's off to the printers it's on to the rewards. It's a rather busy summer made even more hectic with my kids going back to school in just a few weeks too. As it turns out, one of those family responsibilities is falling on me later this week and I'll be out of town for a few days. Because I've been feverishly trying to finish the book in time to go to print and other home stuff, I will not be posting this Friday. I just don't have the next comic done yet. I expect to send the book to print next Monday so things should be getting back to normal after that. I'm almost at the end of the Road Trip story (10 more episodes, if you can believe it). This story has been a huge amount of fun for me but I'm also looking forward to getting the cast back home. I have LOTS of individual story lines just waiting for everyone. Annabel and Devon will get a much needed character boost, more on Jeff and Jojo, there's also a story line I tried to start with Dave almost two books ago that I'll finally get to, Mateo and Mia as well as those two characters Bohemian Nights seems to have a great focus on these days, Emrys and Beth. (We'll probably see the return of a certain Mrs. McKrakkin as well). So, looking forward to the end of this chapter. Hang in there though. There's still a surprise or two before it's all ended.

  1. Great page. And I am very hooked to the story. I am looking forward to character development.

      Thank you (fixed).

  2. Heh – keep those wild cards flowing from up your sleeve. Meanwhile, I eagerly await the return of the redoutable McKrakkin, possibly my favorite character in the story to date, surpassing even Em and Beth. There’s the potential of plenty of backstory for such a character, and it’d all be a delight to read.

She is a very fun character and it’s been way too long.

  3. Crap! I was so busy this weekend I forgot my little quote for you, Eric. Sorry about that, I was looking forward to writing it. ๐Ÿ™ I’ll try to come up with something anyway, just in case you ever want it in the future.

So…we already knew from his introduction that he liked Beth in high school, but the fact that he seems to have been somewhat of a lothario doesn’t leave me with a positive impression. Maybe he wasn’t just after sex, maybe he actually treated his girlfriends well, but I’m not going to lay a bet down on that possibility, because it’s a long shot. Could he have changed in the intervening years? Sure, it’s possible, but the fact that he works in Las Vegas, the city nicknamed “Sin City”, doesn’t raise the odds any.

I think both Beth and Emrys need to take the advice from an Indiana Jones villain, and ask themselves what they believe. What are they willing to sacrifice for a relationship that means more than just sex and ‘good times’?

  4. I have to admit that, since Mark’s death, Emrys and Beth have been taking up most of the panel space with their storylines (Emrys getting a job and quitting, then breaking uo with Stephanie, Beth seemingly falling for Rich’s charms, then exposing him, Emrys deciding to move with his mom, Beth coming along for the ride with the crew in tow, Beth convincing Emrys’s mom to let him go, and now Beth giving Emrys’s hopes up that he finally has a chance but being to indecisive, allowing Beth to go back to her pattern) I’m particularly interested in Dave’s story that was put on the back burner. Does it have anything to do with the drug dealer Dave and Shannon met way back in strip #700? I feel there’s more to what transpired than just Dave and Shannon getting evidence to use against Rich. We don’t know if Dave actually completed the deal he started or if he and Shannon ran out the door as soon as the dealer revealed Rich hired him to screw up Beth’s life.

    1. As I remember it, Dave and Shan were really wasted.

That is part of Dave’s story line. The other half is new.

  5. Ah — that last line!
“Forgetting the Past” is just a sure-fire way to wind-up repeating it!

    1. Never mind did not read the whole post… Sorry…
