#693 Go Your Own Way

aaaaaaaaand scene! Well, that was a hard one to go through. We may not have seen the last of Stephanie either (she is on the masthead, after all). Thank  you all for your comments. I know this was a hard story to get through. Break ups can bring out the worst in people. And now with this little story line at a pause, and myself pretty beat up from work, I'll be off for a week as I recover from the holiday madness. The next comic will be up Friday, Jan 4th (so technically a little over a week). (and yes, I still got to get out the sketches...so late....sorry)

UPDATE:

Okay, the comic is going to be delayed for just three more days. Many time-suck things have occurred this past week to drain myself and my time, not least of which my health. It's all starting to slow down now but I need to start in on the comic itself including the Midnight Edition. So Both the new comic and M.E. will be out on Monday the 6th. Sorry for the delay for those checking in on Friday. Happy New Year to you all! Cheers!

    So I’m thinking option 2 of my breakup scenarios is going to happen- Emyrs leaves Stephanie and she goes back to dating dude-bros who only want her for her body, and she drinks heavily to numb the pain until she dies or winds up in the hospital. I honestly would’ve liked another strip of Stephanie being quiet, watching Emyrs leave through her window, then throwing a tantrum, smashing random stuff, and just cry alone in her apartment as it sinks in as to just what the heck she did, but I guess living with a zinger works too.

    Well, that was about as firey as I *should* have expected, but I had delusions of character growth. 😉

    Emrys, that send off was her best chance of learning something from you, so kudos to you for saying it, because it was the truth. I bet she’s never been dumped by her boytoy before, and that hurts her pride more than escaping her control.

    And there it is. Emrys just used the nuclear option. That was probably the thing he could have said that would have hurt the most, but probably also give her something to think about.

      I wonder if he’ll ever recall the guy in the bar (Stephanie’s ex-bf) who tried to warn him about her, all those many, many pages ago.

      I doubt that it would hurt her at all, if it didn’t hurt him so badly to say those words to her…
      …at least she understands him enough to know that his tears are real…
      … Her understanding of what her toxic behavior patterns have done to him may yet penetrate her defensive habits and spark a desire for self-improvement, hopefully.
