Yeah. Good call, I think, to counterbalance one depressing plot with the other.
Nevermind that ever since the death in the family, we’ve needed something unequivocally good to happen.

agree stretching it out wasn’t necessarily needed to do, besides, you wrote a great ending to the Rich saga, and as you said, you can always bring him back in the future if a good story line comes to mind

So, is there now EmBeth time?

I doubt Emrys will be talking to Beth for quite some time until one of the others in the group sits down with him and talks some sense into him. Or the Green Man. That dude knows EVERYTHING!

My message to Jeff would be, you (plural) did kick Rich’s ass, metaphorically, and that’s the best way to do it.

Taking the moral high gound in a situation like that might have a bitter taste at first, but the finish is smooth and refreshing. Those of you who enjoy the flavors of beer, you know what I mean.
I am satisfied with this wrap-up, because ultimately this was the “cleanest” victory they could have hoped for, if he actually leaves town. There’s nothing for Rich to hold against them, at least in terms of violence done to him, so the reality is that he’s getting off easy, even if he doesn’t see it that way. It might have been more satisfying for Jeff and the guys to get a little rowdy, but I think they’ll be okay with this resolution.

As a native Czech living in land of original Pilsner Urquell I know this better than you might think

When my son was in Praha several years ago he managed a side trip to Plzn and tasted the ur Pils in its home brewery. From what he said, we both know what that means in that particular context. I agree with the sentiment in the lager, story-specific context, too.

So the gang all caught wise to Rich’s scheme and kicked him out, but poor Emrys didn’t get the memo… I’m thinking his next meeting with Beth is gonna be harsh before someone finally explains what all went down.
I’m expecting the next few Emrys comics to be very depressing. Hopefully we’ll get some “Jeff call center” strips before seeing him again. I always enjoyed those.

Emrys deserves better – he’s just a typical mid-twenties with the typical mid-twenties not-yet-fully-matured male brain, hence undefended. I’d hope that someone gets to him before his next meeting with Beth; I’ve been shipping them for a long time.
