#742 Annabel and Mateo

Okay. I cheated on that last panel. Usually I take a picture and paint over it by hand using the colors I pick up in that photo. It can take about two hours like in the picture I did of them driving down the coast a few comics back.  But this one... I just used a photo shop filter and added shadows and the van. I got one more comic this Friday and then I'm taking my usual summer week off next week. I'm obviously not going anywhere so I'll be recharging the ol' batteries. I AM hoping to write a lot of episodes though and get on a firm setting on the story line.

    I don’t call it cheating. It’s up to you what technique you use. And it’s beautiful. Is that Sequoia Park?

      Nope. Redwoods. But I’ve been backpacking in Sequoia before.

    Anything north of Muir Woods looks like that in very short order; it’s the Redwood Empire. OhByTheWay, it’s prime screech owl habitat.

    I guess you can call it cheating, but it’s also a way to conjure up that otherworldly feeling Emrys must be having right now. Nice.

    I haven’t been able to keep up regularly like usual (overtime sucks), but this whole trip has been a fantastic and soothing balm for the craziness and stupidity that has been going on for the past four months. Thank you for sharing it with us, Eric!

      You’re very welcome! Doing this trip with all the craziness going on today is like a balm on my senses too. Enjoying doing it too.
      …of course it doesn’t mean there may not be a little drama along the way.
