Well, due to insurance and doctors not communicating until the last minute, it looks like my surgery has been delayed until the second week of February. All of this came down the night before it was scheduled. So the good news is, I'm able to work hard on catching up with the comic (I even have the next twenty-five comics written--all the way to April). The bad news is, I still have to live with rather unfortunate side effects of the problem for almost another month.
A word to the young...enjoy your youth while you still can.
I haven’t forgotten about the red flags on Stephanie, but this scene is certainly tilting the balance in her favor. It’s one thing to tell someone they can be more ambitious, but entirely another when you’re actually putting in the time to help them move forward like she’s doing by finding a job opportunity. I know, I know, even manipulative people can seem helpful (or even BE helpful) sometimes, but for some reason I don’t get that impression here, just that she’s actually interested in giving Emrys a nudge in the right direction. He may think that it sounds ‘stuffy’, but he’s young, (possibly) under employed for his skills, and has little or no job experience, so, as she said, you have to start somewhere. The notion that you’re going to land your dream job straight out of school is not a good one, especially if it requires experience beyond just what you learned in school (which is very likely), and it’s a harsh wake-up call to reality when it happens. Having goals and aspirations are a good thing, but it’s better for your sanity to take the long view. 🙂
Also…boobie squeeze for a consolation prize? She knows a little reward helps salve the male ego. 😉

I’m not sure I like Stephanie. She seems manipulative, possibly using sex as leverage. I hope I’m wrong.
On another note, I’m sorry you arent feeling well. I hope it goes well.

Emrys seems to be doing a bit of manipulation himself.

Once again, well said. And once again Stephanie is somewhere in between, like most of us. She just may turn out to be a very complex character.
