Nit to pick? If they started on the trip around noon then the shadows on the bridge (sun overhead) are correct. I, too, love the shadows from the trees but they are from the wrong side of the road. It would be later afternoon for the long shadows and moving south (Portland to California) the shadows would be from the west – our left. Unless this is the next morning after camping for the evening……..
These narrated pages always make me think of this comic being turned into a TV series, similar to “The Wonder Years”. It wouldn’t be family friendly like that show was, but it certainly plays to similar themes.
I never did things quite so grand as this group when I was in my twenties, but that was more due to my nature and financial situation (and transportation situation) than a lack of big ideas. I still want to take a road trip to places in the USA, like Mount Rushmore, Yellowstone Park and Devil’s Tower, but it’ll take planning to make it happen, which is quite contrary to what’s going on with this page. I guess not all of us can be so bold. π
Me, my bro, his gf, and our mum made trip like that 9 years ago. We flew to LAX, our luggage remained in Paris, so we bought completely new equipment again in LA, then we visited Seqouia park, Yossemite Park, DevilΒ΄s Tower, then thru corner of Oregon to Idaho and to Wyoming to Grand Teton and Yellowstone Park. And after that Wall Drug Store in Wall, SD where my bro was for summer work several times, there we also visited Badlands, Mt Rushmore and many interesting places around Rapid City SD, like Reptile Garden or one place with twisted magnetism. Then we flew from Rapid City to Minneapolis, then to Amsterdam and back to Czech Rep. Definitely do it. It was awesome trip. It took us 3 weeks.

I love that last panel, with the sky and the sun casting shadows through the trees onto the road! Very nicely done.

Emrys is clearly in a transitional phase of his life. I hope it leads to better things.

Hard to read this text. It’s very small, and even magnified it’s low rez so it’s a bit blurry.

That’s really weird. It wasn’t like that when I first posted it. I’ll fix it.
