Interesting that Beth, who has all kinds of animus against Stephanie, would aid in her defense. Maybe it was “He’s grabbing a weapon! Stop him!” Or perhaps “He’s been fooling with my sister! Go ahead and hit him.” Or even “He tried to hit Stephanie, which in the final analysis, she doesn’t deserve. Time to get things under control.”
Or, as I would surmise, a bit of all three, in about a 50-10-40 split, respectively…
I’m thinking she saw him grab the poker, realized, in his maddened state, that he could potentially kill Mateo, so she whacked him before he even had a chance to get a shot in, ending the fight before it could escalate. At least, I HOPE she ended it.
Some people hit rock-bottom, Dave decided to keep digging! And always with the victimhood complex (“Whaaa! Nobody loves me! Woe is me!”). He’ll be lucky if he doesn’t end up the night in jail.
Among the hardest lessons life will drop on you is the realisation “You simply cannot save them all.”
Sometimes you just have to let people go their own path however dark it will be.
Dave managed to pile up a horriffic number of No-Go´s in just a few minutes.
Poor Mateo, his farewellparty turned into a smouldering crater…
Called it that Mateo would be beating the crap out of Dave, but good for Beth for finishing the fight… at least I hope it’s finished.
I really hope the police arrest him and gives him time to process how he just blew his life up as well as sever all of the friendships he’s had up to this point, all in one fell swoop. But, for all we know, he seems like far bigger of a threat than Mark was, and we saw what the police did to him…
And this is why you don’t do drugs, kids. Not because there are ad campaigns against it, not because only nerds don’t do drugs, or even because mom and dad told you not to, because in the end, the only one who pays the ultimate price is you. Self loathing will get you no where and sympathy wears out quickly when all you seek is destruction. Much like suicide, hating yourself is never the answer and there’s no redemption in guilt. I am reminded once again of the most memorable anecdote from the TV show ‘The Blacklist’, where James Spader’s character, Raymond Reddington, describes a terrorist bombing as a metaphor for suicide.
Raymond ‘Red’ Reddington : Have you ever seen the aftermath of a suicide bombing?
Mysterious Woman : We’re wasting time.
Raymond ‘Red’ Reddington : I have. June 29th, 2003. I was meeting two associates at the Marouche restaurant in Tel Aviv. As my car was pulling up, a 20-year-old Palestinian named Ghazi Safar entered the restaurant and detonated a vest wired with C-4
Mysterious Woman : Let me go.
Raymond ‘Red’ Reddington : The shock wave knocked me flat, blew out my eardrums. I couldn’t hear. The smoke… It was like being under water. I went inside. A nightmare. Blood, parts of people. You could tell where Safar was standing when the vest blew. It was like a perfect circle of death. There was almost nothing left of the people closest to him. Seventeen dead, 46 injured. Blown to pieces. The closer they were to the bomber, the more horrific the effect.
Mysterious Woman : Stop.
Raymond ‘Red’ Reddington : That’s every suicide. Every single one. An act of terror perpetrated against everyone who’s ever known you. Everyone who’s ever loved you. The people closest to you, the ones who cherish you are the ones who suffer the most pain, the most damage. Why would you do that? Why would you do that to people who love you?
Ah yes, I remember this. And have to remind it from time to time.
“Why would you do that to people who love you?” Because you feel world will be better place without you. And that I don’t deserve to be loved. (personal experience)
Dave better go to the hospital after all that. It’s his fault that he’s in that condition. To get himself straightened out, he must stop blaming others and admit his mistakes.

Very True. You can only help people so much, but only if they want to be helped.
