Kickstarter still going! 25% funded! There's still a chance it could happen. But I have a feeling I was aiming for a higher print run than I should have. If it doesn't come through this time, there's always the next...

A date that he hasn’t asked the recipient to go on….this will be an extraordinary triumph, or good ol’ Charlie Brown’s is getting the football yanked away…… AUGH!!! {{{{THUD!!!}}}}
You are correct! The script just said ‘waiter’, but as I drew the first panel, it became increasingly clear that he should resemble a certain Mr. Cleese (my favorite of the Monty Python group). And thus some dialog was altered to fit the character. I only WISH he were a Patreon. lol.
I echo the sentiments of Brother Parvus and G here, this is not the best way to go for Emrys, but I suppose that can be chalked up to youthful inexperience. I can remember thinking that a “romantic” this, that, or the next thing would “win me the girl”, but it rarely works out that way, especially if she doesn’t feel at least a little something for you. Not trying to sound pessimistic or discourage any younger folks out there, but love at first sight notwithstanding, I think the more common way to enter the relationship is by mutual agreement after you know each other a little bit.
Oh, and Gorbi, I don’t want to dim your view of the USA anymore than it probably already is, but there’s plenty of corruption here, especially in politics. Some of it is better hidden, some of it is more favor for a friend kind of deal that -might be- relatively harmless (like bribing our waiter here), but there is definitely hard corruption, organized crime and other chicanery in the USA to the point that it’s hardly recognizable from when I was a kid, and I’m not even that old, relatively speaking. That’s what happens when people vote on headlines and refuse to do even the basic due diligence on the platforms (sets of policy and/or principles) and people that are in the running, among other variables I won’t mention in the comments section. 🙂
Emrys, I gave you a pass on your unfortunate dance floor mishap because I knew you were drunk and that was inevitable. But this is a WHOLE NEW LEVEL of stupid for you, bro. It would be one thing if Beth was already your girlfriend and you told her your next date would be “someplace special” then make the arrangements, but to do it BEFORE YOU EVEN OFFICALLY ASKED HER OUT? You’d have better luck hijacking the sound equipment and singing “Just Too Good To Be True” at Celine Dion’s show. Before you make arrangements, at least see if she’s available first.
I’m calling it… Emrys will ask Beth out, she’ll say she has other plans, Emrys will go to the restaurant alone and see Beth and Robert at a table together. What happens afterward won’t be pretty no matter what happens. (Really hoping Emrys doesn’t attack Robert in a jealous rage. That could potentially alienate him from ALL his friends, not just Beth.)
I think we all can agree that Emrys pulling the cart before the horse is a dumb idea, we’ll just have to wait and see how it all plays out. Although I don’t see Emrys going into any kind of rage. He internalizes things too much.

i do believe there is a possibility to look even stupider to have a date but not secured the dinner yet.
Brother Parvus
The currency wherewith you can impress her is other than what you can purchase with filthy lucre, you dolt!
Josh
Yeah but, points for trying maybe?

Is that a picture of your Patreon backer John Cleese in panel 4?

Good. I am not alone about that 🙂

Something tells me you watched “Silly Job Interview” before drawing this page. Or at least panel 4 🙂

Also: “Le Perroquet Bleu” – priceless! 🙂

It’s oddly pleasant for me as Czech to see that Corruption works even in The States 🙂
BTW when Emrys use his win cash for bribe and it is a “most exclusive restaurant in town” will Emrys have monies also to pay a bill?

Ah, Emrys’ ideas of romance sadly mirrors my own. Or did when I was much younger.

I asked a woman out on a date once, and she told me she didn’t go out on dates. I like the guest appearance here. 🙂
